Tattoo Care
  • If fabric sticks to the tattoo, pour warm water over the area and gently massage until fabric comes away from the body.
  • If the tattoo itches, lightly slap it. No scratching.
  • For the first 4 full days (96 hours), let the tattoo breathe! Wash gently with hand soap only and pat dry. Nothing else should be used during this time - the tattoo needs to dry out to heal properly.
  • After 4-5 days. Begin using non-scented lotion. If application stings, it’s too soon. Immediately wash off the area and pat dry.
  • DO NOT use any petroleum product at any point while the tattoo is in this healing phase. This includes, Neosporin, A&D, “Tat Wax”, Aquaphor, or anything similar. These suffocate the tattoo, will effect the quality of the final product, and will lead to delayed healing time, poor healing, and possible infection.
  • After all scabs have come off on their own (do not pick them), the skin will be left looking a bit dull and flaky. At this time, you can start gently exfoliating and start using a petroleum product, such as A&D, daily.
  • Protect your tattoo from the sun with either clothing or sunscreen at all times. The sun is the fastest way to age a tattoo.
